The wearer of the St Helens scrum-half shirt may change but for Warrington , the story remains depressingly familiar. Sean Long was the key figure on so many occasions as Saints dominated their local rivals for the last decade, so this was further compelling evidence that Kyle Eastmond is a worthy successor. Eastmond opened the scoring with a brilliant individual try but it was his goalkicking that provided the crucial difference between the teams, who each scored four tries.  

SAINTS are at full strength for Friday's Super League meeting with Challenge Cup holders Warrington Wolves. Tony Puletua, Paul Wellens, Matt Gidley and Sia Soliola are all included in Mick Potter's 19-man squad. And the angry boss warned his squad that mistakes born out of a lack of focus and effort were unacceptable to him as he watched them toss away a narrow half-time advantage at the HJ Stadium. McNamara said: "I'll accept anyone who makes an error, it's part of the game. It is the lack of concentration and application which really hurts and there was some of that in the game for us and we won't tolerate it.

Warrington Wolves demolished Bradford Bulls 33-8 thanks to a thrilling second-half performance in the Engage Super League on Saturday evening. Tries from Andy Lynch and Paul Sykes gave the Bulls a slender half-time advantage with Richie Myler crossing for Warrington on his return from injury. But an awesome second-half display that included two tries apiece for Ryan Atkins and Matt King as well as one from Michael Monaghan ensured a comprehensive win for the Wolves.  

Stand-off Briers is still not ready to return to action from the ankle injury he picked up in the defeat to Wigan back on February 20. However there is better news for Wire fans concerning the health of full-back Richie Mathers and scrum-half Richie Myler. Both players missed last Sunday's convincing home win over Crusaders but have passed fitness tests and are included in Warrington's 19-man squad.

On top of the 17 who played against Wigan, Rikki Sheriffe will be available to come back into consideration and Michael Platt is ready now and will play Under 20's this week, which should give us another number potentially for next week   -Steve McNamara

 

Warrington welcome back half-back Lee Briers, who has missed their last two games with an ankle injury. Richie Myler and Richie Mathers also return after missing last week's win over Crusaders with toe and groin injuries respectively. Bradford coach Steve McNamara has again named an unchanged 19-man squad for the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.  

Warrington Wolves will take on the Bulls without key playmaker Lee Briers.  

Gareth Thomas stayed away as his new club failed to stop Warrington surging to second spot in the Engage Super League. Thomas, the former Wales and British Lions skipper, will start training with Crusaders this week and is set to make his debut against Catalans at Wrexham on Friday week. Thomas, 35, was expected to watch Crusaders in action for the first time but remained in South Wales instead of travelling to Warrington.
